My first semester...well, academically I would not have changed anything. I loved all my classes, English 111/Honors English being my favorite. (My first ever honors course!!!) The classes at Wheelock are wonderful. I had amazing professors and did well in all my classes. I became better with time-management and note-taking and thus, classes never stressed me out. I enjoyed going to class every day. I was able to use a lot of what I learned at my second high school in my classes. My field placement was boring but I get to do my second semester placement at my second high school and I am very excited. I have great classes for next semester as well. =)

My social life and dorm life both leave a lot to be desired. Wheelock had the "brilliant" idea of renting out a floor in my dorm to both women and men from another college nearby and they have been nothing but trouble. My dorm was orginally all women but then we had 21 boys in it. Wheelock boys in other dorms are fine...this other college...not so much. A few of the boys sexually harassed me for a long time and it took forever to switch rooms. The boys did not even get in trouble. They trashed the common room, the elevator and are still noisy and bother other people on the floor. This is not their school! But I decided to do something about it.

I switched my major. Instead of Human Development and Child Life, I am an American Studies major with a focus on Popular Culture and Representation. I am examining the role of the media and how it influences our thoughts on sexual education, rape, STD's, etc. I am training to be a rape crisis counselor and will be certified in the state of Massachusetts in July of 2008. I will be there for victims...I did not really have anyone believe me, except for my RA's. I also plan on applying to be an RA. Mine are fabulous and I want to do a great job like them.

I did not get out much. I worked 4 days a week and that became my escape. I went to a few events and joined Admissions Ambassadors but I kept a low profile after what the boys did. I regret that. I hope to get out more next semester.

Alrighty. That's about it. My first semester was certainly eventful. I will be busier next semester, but hopefully have more fun and be happier.
